The Pink Lily Lagoon Flood Plain Upgrade was a full scope Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) landscaping package including site soil manufacture, ground preparation, planting, bio-basin installation, soil amelioration, top soil installation, hydromulching, organics blanket application, watering, establishment and monitoring. A critical requirement was achieving a landscape outcome that conformed to MRTS16.

Our team faced extreme weather conditions and the additional complexity of delivering the project over a floodplain in North Queensland. The site experienced several weather events, with minor flooding, adding to delivery challenges.

A critical part of our team’s solution was to work with the site’s natural conditions. We made the most of the dry season and let the rain produce results in the wet season. As a result, we successfully delivered:

  • 110ha of subsoil amelioration
  • 80,000m3 of site manufactured top soil
  • 6ha of organics blanket
  • 110ha of top soil placement
  • 110ha of hydromulch
  • 51,000 tube stock.

The project was delivered on time and on budget to MRTS requirements. Our team emphasised building a great working relationship with the principal contractor, maintaining a problem-solving mentality from the outset through to completion.
