The core focus for Moura Solar Farm was planting and establishing a vegetation buffer and visual screen to minimise the aesthetic impact of the solar farm on the surrounding community.
The approach had to consider very dry and hot conditions, limited water supply and a heavily weed-infested area prior to ground preparation and planting. Our team overcame these challenges by using soil ameliorants and additives to maximise water retention. We also deployed a strict post-planting maintenance program to overcome weed infestation.
Our scope covered ground preparation, mulching, planting of 12,000 tube stock, establishment watering and weed control. The resulting vegetation screen has been effective with excellent resilience while under maintenance.
